June 12, 2018 - Day 3 of our trip and Our 30th Wedding Anniversary. What better place to celebrate our 30th than on a Holland American cruise ship, enjoying Glacier Bay from our veranda. While we were as far north as the cruise went, the sun was out and we were able to relax on the lounge chairs on the veranda, watching the ship slowly cruise through the bay.
The evening was spent eating in the dining room, then a quick visit to the B.B. King's Blues Club, then back to our stateroom for a glass of Sparkling Wine, Chocolate Covered Strawberries and a movie on our big screen TV (either The Circle with Tom Hanks and Emma Watson or Amy Adams in Arrival, both decent movies but I can't remember which one we watched that evening).
Something else that we found interesting about our cruise was that our cabin had blackout drapes. Margaret found out why. We usually went to bed sometime around 10:30 - 11:00 and there was still sunlight at that time. One morning Margaret got up really early (I think around 4:30) and when she marginally opened the drapes, it was light outside. We later found that there is only around 4-5 hours of "night" at this time of year here and if we were to go farther north, it would be light twenty-four hours a day.
